FRONT: ONE Horse Chestnut (T1)(ht.20m) CROWN REDUCE by up to 3 metres, from ht.20m to ht.17m and spread from 15m to 12m, CROWN LIFT canopy to approx.4m above ground level. Reason: management for health & safety; tree inspection found fungal fruiting bodies in NE secondary stem over road, historic limb failure, low resonance with hammer and Microdrill at 4m in main stem indicating reduced resistance; combined with the high target area recommendation is for heavy pruning to the north east stem to mitigate against the spread and degradation of the fungal infection, to reduce limb failure risk from wind sail effect in the upper crown, and overall crown reduction to maintain as natural a shape as possible from the resulting asymmetric crown. Informative: it is greatly appreciated that such sensitive and considerate tree works are being undertaken to retain the visually significant frontage horse chestnut tree with regard to health and safety and for urban greening amenity and environmental benefits within this part of the Forest Hill conservation area.
