Planning application

25/07130/TR

St Wilfrids Church Main Street Pool In Wharfedale Otley LS21 1LH

Granted Leeds Tree Works

Proposal

T1 Weeping Ash - Undertake re-pollarding back to previous pollard points to reduce end-weight, remove potentially unstable secondary growth, and manage risk of limb failure T2 Cherry - Fell both cherry trees to ground level and remove all arisings from site. T3 Mature Cherry - Remove lowest limb extending into Yew tree to reduce competition and avoid future damage. Draw back scaffold limb with mechanical damage by approx. 3m to suitable secondary growth points. Draw back canopy from church gable end to achieve a minimum clearance of 3m. Remove deadwood and minor crossing/rubbing branches throughout canopy. Continue with periodic inspection to monitor for decline or further mechanical stress.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
