Planning application

Junction B5281 with Cumbria Way ULVERSTON LA12 7PH

Granted Lake District National Park 2026/0680/TPO Tree Preservation Order

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

North Lonsdale RDC TPO No 4 1970 - A1- Sycamore, Rowan, Cherry, Ash and Holly Trees. As part of the water mains rehabilitation works on behalf of United Utilities, we require to renew 2.5km of water mains (4'' PV). On this location, we will require to Open Cut (open excavations) about 30m after the existing bridge towards Cumbria Way on carriageway in order to install the new water main and fittings. We will abandon the existing water main (existing patches shown on the carriageway, about position of existing water main). We will use mechanical digging as preference, however on this location, we can use hand digging and VacEx to not damage any tree roots. Reinstatement as per found once works are completed. No expectation to trim/ felling/ remove any tree. Taking as reference three trees stems, we have a min RPA radius of 22.8m, 12m and 15m, therefore we will be working within the RPA radius.
