What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

The neighbour has now raised concerns over the overall condition of the tree as identified by the TPO in the previous approval. This a fir tree and is requested to be removed altogether as the neighbour has concerns over the potential risk to damage to their wall and the potential of considerable cost on the repairing of the wall should any issue occur with the tree. Please note that the tree is on a sandy bank. Whilst applying for the removal of the tree - it is also requested that all trees in the area be cut back and any dead wood removed, which could result in all trees being removed from this area

2/TPO/00205 - Two lime trees located out the front of the property that our client wants reduced. One of the trees has shed a branch onto neighbours property. We are looking to thin the trees and give a crown reduction up to 3m depending on pruning points and to manage a shape of both trees. The trees are full of epicormic growth and are covering the lients/neighbours garden. They want them reduced to keep on top of growth, manage the trees from having future limb failures, allow more light onto grass and give a balanced canopy. As you know lime trees are very fast growing so they want to keep on top of the trees as they are taking up all the space in the garden. I can see they have been done previously in the past

Walnut tree planted by ourselves approx. 20 years ago - we want to 'uplift' the tree by removing the lowest 6 branches. The branches are significantly overhanging the kitchen roof of our house, rubbing against the flue to our Woodburner in our kitchen/diner and casting shade over our greenhouse making it impossible to grow anything.

Oak tree to be removed as in sufficient decline with only 10% canopy growth. we would like to remove the tree due to its proximity to the driveway/access and poses a threat to life if was to fall. We would like to replace the tree with a new oak in its place. Please refer to T1,T2,T3 & T4
