Planning application

T0108.24

17 Appleby Drive Romford RM3 7SH

Granted Havering Trees

Proposal

4 Trees on green. Hawthorn, Silver birch, Plum tree and large Willow tree. Would like trees to be inspected for safety and remove unsafe or dead branches as some fall down in wind and to shape. Large willow tree needs trimming/pollard and if possible to reduce height as towering over houses and branches hitting houses when windy and worried it will fall over. Also for safety as people sit there in the summer. Can meet on site with the council tree man to discuss. Tree surgeon not found yet until approved.

As published by the council, reference T0108.24

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

We have a weeping birch tree in our garden. We have had it confirmed by two different tree surgeons from two different companies that unfortunately it is dead. The tree has been dead for at least 9 months. We had hoped it might show signs of life in the summer but this has not happened. We would like permission to cut down the tree before it falls down and harms someone or falls into the pond it is beside.
