Bower House, Amana Trust Orange Tree Hill Havering-atte-bower Romford RM4 1PB
The proposal is to improve and re-grade the levels on Bower Farm to create a more usable field area to the North of the Farm buildings. The eventual change of levels is consolidated to the proposed and approved new tree area shown in planning approval P1566.23. 500mm of top soil will be removed and the rougher excavated soil from the adjacent site, soil from the earth works relating to Bower House planning approval P1302.21, will be used to grade the site. The top soil will then be replaced and the area turfed and seeded for agricultural use.

T34 Poplar - Has signifigant damage to the trunk on the south side with the heartwood exposed. This tree needs to be removed as it is too close to the weeping willow and is in a poor condition. T43 Sycamore - has a large cavity at the base and a poor structural condition. The stem is probably a new stem from an old stump . It is proposed to remove this tree to give more space to other trees and allow more light to the pond. T96 Sycamore - It is proposed to fell this tree as it has a poor physiological condition with dieback throughout the crown and possible root damage, there are clear indications of sooty bark disease. G9 Birch - This group of birch have all been set at 3m centres to form a block. This will become too close as they mature resulting in tall trees with high thin crowns. It is proposed to thin out the number of trees by removing small Weak or damaged trees to improve the group as a whole. T120 Hawthorn - Has major dead wood and die back throughout the crown. Epicormic growth on the trunk suggests the tree is trying to re-crown at a lower level. It is proposed to pollard the tree back to 2M high to rejuvinate the crown and remove the major dead wood over hanging the bench in the western corner of the wood land. T77 Norway Maple - Has storm damage to the lowest limb on south side. The tree has suppressed the lower crowns of the 2 Wellingtonias. It is proposed to thin and prune to help remedy this, and also to remove a limb rubbing the trunk of the adjacent Scotts pine tree.

T129 Acer has pockets of decay where old branches have been removed and appear to be joining up within the trunk, this is hollow as far as can be reached from a ground level survey. It is proposed to remove this tree as it over hangs the adjacent public footpath. T57 Weeping Ash is hollow and has a poor structural condition. Decay in the top of the trunk, where branches originate is evident. The branches may fail, due to the structural weakness, as such it is proposed to fell this tree to ground level. Larch trees, T61 and T62, will never become good specimens, as they are totally suppressed by T60, it is proposed to remove these trees as they will not become trees with good structural condition. T66 and T67 - A pair of birch trees close to the accommodation block have a poor structural condition and are physiologically moribund, as such it is proposed to remove these trees. T161 Alder is structurally poor due to decay in the trunk at 1.1M to 3M High. In addition the crown is unbalanced and hangs over the proposed building works, it is proposed to coppice it back to ground level below the decay. T83a Sycamore has deadwood throughout the crown and a poor structural condition, the dieback throughout the crown suggests possible past root damage, or root decline it is proposed to coppice the tree back to the main basal form as it overhangs the entrance road. T107 Cedar, has damage to the lowest limb on the western side. The species is prone to losing limbs during periods of adverse weather such as snow or high wind, thus it is proposed that the damaged limb would be removed.

Application for a non-material amendment to planning permission P1302.21 dated 31/08/2023 to modify the permission in the following ways: Alter the lower ground floor level from 89.455 to 88.980 to accommodate requirement of deeper structural elements, this is further excavation, and does not alter the height of the buildings at all. Tree T1. We would like to remove of this tree. It has has a history of problems and it was part of a group of tree's that have all failed and been removed over the years. Pollarding was granted last year due to its size and the fact that a large part of the tree had broken off due to a fungal bracket. It was reported to me after pollarding that the tree had a large cavity just below the main union , approximate size unknown but and least a depth of 300mm. This was a year ago and I have noticed today that there is a fungal bracket coming out of this cavity, I am concerned that it will break and damage neighbours sheds.
