T1 Horse Chestnut. A tree with serious health issues: Huge lesions and exposed inner wood, on the trunk at ground level to 2m in height, plus similar problems in the middle and upper crown. A significant gap in the canopy is apparent - where a large limb broke off several years ago. The tree overhangs several gardens, where the residents have expressed concerns about the tree's safety. A cursory inspection of the lower trunk revealed decay of the exposed timber. Proposed works: Reduce height by 2m. Reduce right side (when viewed from the garden of no 22) by 3m. Crown thin by 25% The object being - to reduce weight and wind resistance and extend the life of the tree, reducing the risk of a serious breakage. T2. Holly. The tree has been ailing since the neighbours created a driveway several years ago, lowering the ground level and causing significant root damage. Consequently, the tree is as good as dead - just a handful of leaves remain. Proposed works: Fell

Works to tree protected by a TPO. (T1) London Plane - This tree is standing at the rear of the garden of number 11 Highgate Close. The height and lateral spread over garden side have been reduce previously. Proposing to reduce the height and spread over garden side back to the old reduction points, approximately 3m off height and spread, leaving appropriate growth points. Also proposing to reduce the back of the tree to balance the shape of the crown, would reduce by approximately 2m. The reason for this work is that a reduction will help to prevent failure of regrowth and prevent excessive shading to multiple surrounding gardens (Works to (T2) Olive will be considered separately under Section 211 Notice ref. HGY/2025/3063, as this tree is not protected by a TPO but is located within a Conservation Area)
