HGY/2026/2449 Awaiting decision
Fitzroy Court, 57-59 Shepherds Hill, Hornsey, London, N6 5RD
(T1) Oak Reduce the height and overall crown spread by approximately 2–3 metres, with selective crown rebalancing to restore a more even and balanced structure. A large limb has previously failed from the tree, causing significant damage to the garages below and leaving the remaining crown noticeably unbalanced. The proposed reduction will help to restore balance, reduce excessive end weight and assist in maintaining the tree’s long-term health and structural stability. There is also a large limb extending over the new garages which contains a significant cavity. Due to its position directly above the garage roofs, it is recommended that this limb is removed back to the main trunk to eliminate the immediate risk of further limb failure and potential damage to the buildings below. Remove major deadwood throughout the crown where appropriate to reduce the risk of falling branches and improve overall safety.

5 Talbot Road, Hornsey, London, N6 4QS
The proposed works relate to the mature London Plane tree located in the rear garden. There is currently some deadwood within the lower canopy, and small branches have been falling into the garden, creating a potential safety concern. The proposed works are intentionally limited and precautionary. We are not proposing any crown reduction, topping or removal of established structural limbs The works will consist only of removing clearly dead or unsafe minor branches where necessary and removing epicormic growth from the lower part of the tree and main stems The overall height, spread, shape and main crown of the tree will remain unchanged All significant healthy branches and the upper canopy will be retained The intention is simply to improve safety and manage the lower growth while preserving the character, health and appearance of this mature London Plane All works will be undertaken carefully by a professional tree surgeon and in accordance with appropriate arboricultural practice

Works to trees protected by a TPO. T2 Sycamore - Fell and treat stump with eco-plugs 1. The above tree works are proposed as a remedy to the differential foundation movement at the insured property and to ensure the long-term stability of the building. 2. The above tree works are proposed to limit the extent and need for expensive and disruptive engineering repair works at the insured property. In this instance the estimated repair costs are likely to vary between £20,000 and £150,000, depending upon whether the tree/s can be removed or must remain. 3. The above tree works are proposed to limit the extent and need for costly CO2e emissions relating to alternative engineering repair works at the insured property. A typical underpinning scheme can include a carbon cost of more than 6000 kg CO2e and soil stabilisation or root barriers more than 4000 kg CO2e. A typical tree might capture between 15-40kg CO2e per annum and would therefore take centuries to mitigate the cost in CO2e on any alternative. We also confirm that the applicant has included this scheme and application in its tree planting and carbon capture off-set scheme for trees causing subsidence to low rise buildings which has already seen some 11,000 trees planted and additionally 220 tonnes of carbon captured. 4. The above tree works are proposed to limit the duration of any claim period and therefore allow the landowner their right to the peaceful enjoyment of their property. 5. It is the case that an alternative to felling such as pruning or significant ‘pollarding’ of the tree would not provide a reliable or sustainable remedy to the subsidence in this case. We do not consider that any other potential means of mitigation, including root barriers, would be effective or appropriate in the circumstances. 6. We are satisfied that the evidence obtained following completion of our Arboricultural Implication Assessment report completed 20/01/2023 clearly links the Sycamore T2 as a cause of damage to the risk address. 7. Insurers understanding the requirement to offer replacement planting in the event consent to fell is granted.
