Granted Haringey HGY/2025/3162 Works to trees in Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 – English oak (Quercus robur): Pollard the tree to approximately 8 metres from ground level, retaining all viable internal growth to allow the development of a sustainable new crown. All works will be carried out in accordance with BS3998:2010 – Tree Work Recommendations. (Current approximate height: 15 m; lateral spread: 25 m.) - Reason for Works T1 has recently suffered a major limb failure (approx. 20-inch diameter) within the last three months, resulting in damage to neighbouring property. A subsequent inspection identified significant brown-rot decay within the main stem at the crown break and extending into several large lateral limbs. To reduce the risk of further structural failure while preserving the tree, a pollard to 8 m is proposed. This will reduce biomechanical loading on the compromised stem and remaining crown structure, while retaining internal growth to enable the formation of a new, more compact crown that can be safely maintained and monitored in future. T2 - English oak (Quercus robur): Although T2 has not experienced a recent limb failure, an inspection has identified that the tree is in a similar structural condition to T1, with evidence of significant decay (brown rot) within the main stem around the crown break and extending into major lateral limbs. T2 is positioned adjacent to T1 and is therefore subject to the same environmental factors and exposure, increasing the likelihood of comparable structural issues developing into future failures. To proactively reduce the risk of limb or crown failure and to preserve the tree long-term, a pollard to 8 m is proposed. This will reduce biomechanical loading on the compromised stem and remaining crown, while retaining internal growth to allow the formation of a new, manageable crown that can be safely maintained and monitored in future.

TG1 – Lombardy Poplars - NO LONGER INCLUDED IN THIS APPLICATION, 18.08.2026. The Lombardy Poplars will be removed from the current application. We will arrange for one of our surveyors to undertake PiCUS testing of the trees and provide a written report detailing the findings and their recommendations. Once this has been completed, we will submit a new application for these trees based on the findings and recommendations within the report. T2 - Willow - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres - - Reason for work: To reduce end weight and mechanical loading on the main limbs due to a history of limb failure, reducing the likelihood of future failures. T3 - Willow - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres - - Reason for work: To reduce end weight and mechanical loading on the main limbs due to a history of limb failure, reducing the likelihood of future failures. T4 - Willow - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres - - Reason for work: To reduce end weight and mechanical loading on the main limbs due to a history of limb failure, reducing the likelihood of future failures. T5 - Willow - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 2 metres - - Reason for work: To reduce end weight and mechanical loading on the main limbs due to a history of limb failure, reducing the likelihood of future failures. T6 - English oak - AMENDED PROPOSAL, 18.08.2026. The proposed works will be amended so that the Oak is retained as a monolith at approximately 8 metres above ground level, rather than being felled to ground level. TG7 - Crown Reduction - Reducing the height and spread of the tree by up to 4 metres - Reason for work: To reduce end weight and mechanical loading on the main limbs due to a history of limb failure, reducing the likelihood of future failures. T8 - Silver birch - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: tree is leaning over golf tee due to being suppressed by neighbouring trees T9 - English oak - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline T10 - English oak - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline T11 - English oak - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline TG12 - Silver birch - Fell group of 4 trees - Reason for work: Tree is in decline T13 - Horse chestnut - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline with major bleeding canker and bark separation T14 - Horse chestnut - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline with major bleeding canker and bark separation T15 - English oak - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline T16 - English oak - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is in decline T17 - Silver birch - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is suppressed between Oaks and has decay at base T18 - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: Tree is suppressed by the adjacent mature Oak; felling is recommended to reduce competition and allow the Oak to naturally develop and occupy the available canopy space. T19 - Fell to ground level - Reason for work: SAME AS T18 all pruning to be carried out to suitable growth points within guidance of BS3998:2010

T1 - Ash - Crown reduction by 3m in height bringing lateral growth to shape by 1.5m. Removal of all major dead wood, leaving the tree a standing height of 9m. Reducing the crown by approximately 3 meters in height and 1.5 meters laterally will help reduce overall crown weight and wind loading, while maintaining a balanced and proportionate crown.
