Planning application

Granted Haringey HGY/2025/2335 Consent under Tree Preservation Orders

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Works to trees protected by a TPO. Silver Birch (T1) - Fell to ground level. The tree is in severe decline and poses a risk to surrounding garden property. Client will replace tree like-for-like. Robinia (T2) - Fell to ground level. There is a significant lean towards neighbours' property, possible compromised roots from neighbour's patio build, and the the volume of timber, makes T2 a risk. There is a Robinia offshoot sapling at the base of the tree which may serve as a suitable replacement.

Works to tree protected by a TPO. Ash (T1) - Reduce branches overhanging gardens of Connaught House back to previous cuts (up to 2.5m off), remove epicormic growth (max diameter branch 8cm) up to roof height (10m). Reasons: the tree dominates the garden and all adjacent gardens, blocking a lot of light and dropping debris in all of them. The gutters are regularly blocked, causing issues with the building. The work will reduce debris drop in the gutters and gardens, and let more light into the building and all adjacent gardens. The work has been done before and the pruning back to previous cuts will have limited negative impact on the tree health or visual amenity.

T1 - Ash - Crown reduction by 3m in height bringing lateral growth to shape by 1.5m. Removal of all major dead wood, leaving the tree a standing height of 9m. Reducing the crown by approximately 3 meters in height and 1.5 meters laterally will help reduce overall crown weight and wind loading, while maintaining a balanced and proportionate crown.
