Ash tree, T7 within TPO 107. The T7 designation is also used on the sketch plan to indicate the tree. The tree is located solely within our back garden. Work to be done to the tree is the felling of the tree, including stump grinding or similar. This is because the tree has Ash Dieback, is 25m tall, but less than 4m from the house and consequently possing a significant risk to the property. The tree has been seen by an Arborist and they have recommended its removal.

Ash tree numbered T7 on the TPO 107, wrongly shown on TPO105. Given the tree isn't a good example of an ASH and the TPO was clearer placed on this tree and many others in the area in the past for the wrong reasons - to prevent planning and building of other houses there is no reason the tree can not be removed. We have a clear report from a specialist which we have shared with our house insurance company and they are insisting we apply for removal. The tree is 25m tall and is only 4 m from our property. If we fail to get a good reason if you decide removal isn't granted our insurance will become a problem. Please note if you still wish to "protect the area" we would be prepared to plant a different tree within our garden but far enough away so it couldn't fall on the house. We have examined carefully your guide on why a tree would have a TPO and can find no reason for such an order being required on a tree in this condition.

The tree in question for this application is the ash tree designated as T7 in TPO 105. However, in WildBirch Tree Consultancy - Tree Condition Report and Management Recommendations (WB-2026-020-R1), this same tree is identifed as T1. As concluded in WB-2026-020-R1, due to its size, proximity to adjacent structures, and the limited scale of the garden, the tree is considered unsuitable for long-term retention within the site. Consequently, the recommended works are to fell and potentially replace with a smaller more suitable species (section 5.14). It is recommended in section 5.15 that a smaller more suitable species (than ash) is planted that will not outgrow this site and that it is planted along the rear (south-western) boundary. Species suggestions are: ? Field maple ?Elsrijk? (Acer campestre ?Elsrijk?) ? Great white cherry (Prunus ?Tai Haku?) ? Whitebeam 'Lutescens' (Sorbus aria ?Lutescens?)
