Proposal
I am applying to reduce the face of the line of Evergreen Oaks that make up a hedge at Lister Close identified on the sketch map (scan 09-09-25_2055) as TPO 544. The hedge can be seen in IMG_20250731-092442, IMG_20250731-092546 and IMG_20250731-092413 which also show the extent to which it is encroaching onto the roadside. I am proposing to reduce the face that is encroaching onto the access road and Lamp post by approximately 6 feet (due to cutting back to appropriate pruning points) along the length of the hedge adjoining the roadside which is approximately 22.8m. Pruning the trees back by 6 feet will clear the Lamp post that is currently covered allowing light back onto the access road and also allow more visibility for the vehicles that use the Road. The two pictures attached; IMG_20250731-092506 and IMG_20250731-092425 show the branches making up the face of the hedge. As shown in the photos there are adequate pruning points that could be cut back to that would leave minimal wounds to the branches and plenty of points of new growth.

T19 - Fir Tree. Lots of low hanging dead branches that are killing the area around the base of the tree and stopping the tree itself from thriving T20 - Spruce. Remove low level 'dead' branches T21- Monteray Pine. High branches that are growing into the roof area of No 19 Lister Close and if left will be on the roof with the possibility of damage to the property. This is essential tree maintenance work to allow the trees to thrive and grow and prevent damage to property With regard to your email of 16 July 2026 please see attached response which includes 7 pictures Picture 1 - Shows the pathway and gives an aspect of all 3 trees which we wish to trim Pictures 2, 3 and 4 - Show T 21- Monteray Pine with the branches growing into the adjacent property and our concerns lie that if left the branches will grow across the roof and to the walls and cause property damage (roofs and guttering at least). We would propose to cut the branches back around 2-3 metres (subject to final expert advice from the arborist) Picture 5 - Shows T 20 - Spruce with many dead branches at the lower level, due, we believe, to the lack of light being allowed through to lower levels by the much taller trees either side. We would propose to removed all dead, lower branches up to around 10 feet for the safety of the public (branches dying and falling) and to help the upper limbs thrive better Pictures 6 and 7 - Show T 19 - Fir Tree with lots of dead lower level branches which is allowing ivy and other creepers to grow up the tree, leading to potential wider spread damage. The struggling lower limbs are also not allowing access for gardeners to clear the weeds and undergrowth around the base of the tree. All of the above is hoped to improve the quality of growth of the remaining, healthy branches and to improve appearance. We would hope to lift it by 10-12 ft

Poplar NT3 This is a tree growing on adjacent land thought to belong to Exeter City Council, the tree overhangs 28 Curie Mews. Specification - Reduce the lowest branch over the north eastern aspect by 3.5m with a 100mm maximum cut diameter, not cutting beyond the boundary Reason for works - This branch has a potential point of decay 1m distal to its junction which may indicate some weakness. The aforementioned branch is also heavily weighted towards the end and it is hyperextended, it looks to have sagged under the load, separating from the general crown profile. It overhangs the garden and trampoline.

The yew tree in question is showing signs of asymmetric crown formation. After previous limb failure causing a structural imbalance to the remaining crown. My proposal for the future vigour of this tree is to Install a dynamic cobra bracing system to support the imbalance of the lower structural limbs forming a strong three way triangulation of support for the lateral growth that has become very prone to wind through. Please see photo (Yew Reduction Points) for bracing points highlighted in blue. Selective thinning of the whole crown by removing internal growth with a maximum cut size of 60mm diameter 1.5m length by removing multiple smaller limbs I believe this will be more beneficial to the trees structure, and limit the amount of large wounds left by the thinning works. Allowing for better wind distribution through the remaining crown hopefully eliminating future wind through. by leaving the larger structural limbs intact for the future longevity of the structural integrity. please see photo (Yew Reduction Points) with cut points highlighted in red for chosen thinning points throughout the crown Remove failed limb back to the branch collar. The failed limb supported by lower crown hazard beam fracturing of the timber 150mm diameter 2.5m length this will be the largest of the limbs to be removed through suggested works. red dotted line on attached photo hard to see the hazard beam on the photo (Yew Reduction Points) Selective reduction of the height maximum of 1m in length 40mm cut size to the crown on selected limbs again highlighted in red so that again the risk of wind through will be reduced.
