Granted Elmbridge 2025/2355 Tree Preservation Order

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Tree Preservation Order EL:94/11 - T4 Oak Remove The tree works are proposed to stop the influence of the tree(s) on the soil below building foundation level and provide long term stability.to 20 Beaconsfield Road Esher Surrey KT10 0PW Estimated costs of repair to the building are £103,000.00 if the influence of the tree(s) remain and £11,923.68 if the proposed tree works are allowed to proceed. Granting permission will limit these costs. In the event of a refusal we, or our clients, will seek to secure compensation for the additional costs incurred through Section 202(e). Should the tree/s remain the total cost of repairs will be the Superstructural repairs + Alternative method of repairs = £114,923.68 It is the expert opinion of both the case engineer and arboriculturalist that on the balance of probabilities the supporting information demonstrates the influence of the tree(s). Note: Further monitoring results may be submitted if these become available during the course of this application.

1 Beaconsfield Gardens Claygate Esher Surrey KT10 0PX

Tree Preservation Order EL:94/11 - Eucalyptus Gunnii (T1, EL:94/11) needs to be removed due to fungal growth and consequent root rot. It is approx. 30m tall on a sloping site and is 6m from an inhabited building and 4m from the driveway at 1 Beaconsfield Gardens. Its position on the boundary also poses a risk to the building and driveway at 3 Beaconsfield Gardens. It has been assessed by three professionals who have noted obvious decay by fungi with no treatment possible. The decay has, in the last few months, progressed noticeably more quickly and has now spread 2m up the trunk; work has therefore become more urgent. Replanting another tree in this position would be likely to incur future risk to the neighbouring buildings so is unfortunately not recommended. Work would be as follows: Remove the large Eucalyptus tree that is showing root decay and has started to rot at the base. The tree will be safely lowered and the large timber removed using a grab lorry. Track mats will be provided to protect the driveway and surrounding area.

East Molesey Kent Town Conservation Area - T1 - Lime tree on rear boundary - tree has a height of approximately 20 metres and spread of approximately 12 metres. Proposed works are to reduce crown by approximately 2-2.5 metres to previous pruning points, remove regrowth on main trunk to lift crown to a height of approximately 3 metres, leaving the tree with a height of approximately 17.5 metres and spread of approximately 8 metres. These works are being carried out to give clearance from pool house, maintain the tree at a reasonable size suitable to location by carrying out cyclical pruning and allowing light into pool area.

  • 2026/1784 Granted

    34 Clive Road Esher Surrey KT10 8PS

Esher Conservation Area - T1 Leyland Cypress (Rear Garden) Fell to ground level. Reason for Works: The tree is situated in very close proximity to the adjacent outbuilding. As the tree has matured, the stem has increased to a diameter at breast height (DBH) of approximately 40 cm and is now in direct contact with the structure, causing abrasion and damage to the building. Due to the ongoing increase in stem diameter, further structural damage is considered likely if the tree is retained. The proposed removal is therefore necessary to prevent additional damage while maintaining the safety and integrity of the adjacent structure. T2 Lawson Cypress (Rear Garden) Remove one large declining lateral limb and carry out a crown clean to remove all deadwood throughout the canopy. Reason for Works: A substantial lateral limb is in decline, exhibiting extensive dieback and a significant reduction in live foliage. The removal of this limb is proposed to reduce the risk of branch failure and improve the tree's overall condition. In addition, deadwood will be removed throughout the crown to eliminate potential hazards, improve canopy health, and form part of routine arboricultural management.

T2 - Catalpa - Crown reduce by 1.5m all round, reducing height from 10m to 8.5m and spread from 12m to 9m to prevent excessive shading of garden and to keep tree at a suitable size in relation to its surroundings.
