Proposal

1no Oak (T1) - Crown reduce by up to 3m in height and by up to 3m in spread where possible back to previous pruning points. The dimensions of the tree after pruning will be about 16m in height and branch lengths of about 7-8 m in each direction. Recently checked tree and identified one large Laetiporus sulphureus fungal fruiting body growing from an old pruning wound/cavity at about 2.5 m where the trunk divides into two large co-dominant stems. Given this observation, and the fact that there are two further large historic pruning wounds close to the fungal fruiting body, our view is that the works are necessary in the interest of reasonable tree risk management to reduce overall wind loading throughout the crown. The works will not cause significant harm to the tree, and as the profile of it will remain mostly unchanged from public viewpoints, it will have no detrimental impact on its contribution to local character.

    1no. Silver Birch (T1) - Dismantle the to ground level. Replant with new Silver Birch as like-for-like replacement. Tree is in decline and is shedding significant deadwood from canopy. Main stem has an old major pruning/wound point with significant dysfunction and deterioration around the union. Remaining upright stem originates above this compromised area, creating potential structural weak point. The pronounced change in stem direction also places additional mechanical loading and leverage on weakened section, particularly during high winds.
