Granted Dorset P/TRD/2024/07459 Tree Dead Or Dangerous

Works: Trees Several homes

Read from the description, not a valuation. How we read the register

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 - Norway Maple - Fell to ground level under regulation 14 due to significant decay found around the tension side of the buttresses. The tree is leaning/weighted towards and in falling distance to two dwellings. The soil is banked up and rooting area limited. Movement in the root plate noticed by owner during recent high winds. Species does not respond well to heavy crown reduction. T2 - Beech - Crown reduction by 3-4m maintaining flowing canopy line (pruning cuts should not exceed 100mm diameter) under regulation 14. Removal of T1 will expose T2 to new wind forces resulting in potential crown failure or root heave. NB. Cobra Bracing (x2) should be inspected and readjusted where necessary following reduction.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
