Granted Cornwall Overhead Electricity Lines

Proposal

National Grid are proposing to upgrade an existing overhead line between poles 43H85 to 43HJ15 and 43HJ15 to 43HJA5 near Penlan Services, Four Winds, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL30 4HH and as per the plans attached. These works are necessary to make the electricity network 3 phase compatible which will provide customers with 3 phase connection to our distribution network. The overhead line route is approximately 1.7 kilometres in length and the main scope of the works will be to install a 3rd wire with the necessary additional fixtures and fittings to support the new line. The new line will attach to insulators on the cross arms of the existing poles and will be in between the two existing outer wires meaning that the visual impact of this additional 3rd wire is considered very minimal. This section of line was refurbished several years ago so it is anticipated that most of the poles will not require any changes however our team will inspect each pole before works commence and if any poles are identified to require replacement this will be done on a like for like basis with the landowners consent and ensuring the old apparatus is dismantled and removed from site. On pole 43HJ15 it will require an out of balance stay to be added to it, this is to keep the pole upright and balanced once the additional wire is installed. I have attached a street view plan showing the works area extents and a network plan showing the line to be included in these works all highlighted yellow

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
