What happens while it is decided

The process from here

This application is with City of Edinburgh for determination. The council publicises it, consults neighbours and technical bodies where required, and weighs the responses against local and national planning policy.

The statutory target is eight weeks for most applications and thirteen for major development, though extensions of time are common. Comments carry most weight while the case is undecided, so check the council portal for the deadline if you want to respond.

About advertising applications

How this application type works

Advertisement consent controls signs, hoardings and other adverts. The council may only judge two things: amenity, meaning the effect on the appearance of the building and area, and public safety, chiefly whether a sign distracts road users or obstructs sight lines. Other planning considerations, such as competition between businesses, do not apply.

We would like to move the gas meter in order to demolish a wall on the interior of the flat to enlarge the kitchen. We have been given permission for this already. I am applying now because the original entry point for the gas meter must be moved. The entry will still be on the outside of the flat in the communal stairwell but the location is slightly different.

Renovating the bathroom by taking out old bathroom furniture like bathtub, toilet, and sink replacing them with newer and more visually appealing models. New tiling would be done and a new extractor fan to replace the existing one.

The gas meter sits on a wall that we would like to remove to make the kitchen larger. The gas meter would be moved into a cupboard that is across the hallway, making it more accessible. The removal of the walls would not affect the use of the kitchen. There is a dividing wall which separates the kitchen into two parts, then there is an adjoining wall that connects these two walls, but is not visible on the floorplan. We would like to remove these both and move the gas meter.
