What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About full applications applications

How this application type works

A full application seeks permission for a complete, detailed proposal in one go: siting, design, access and landscaping are all fixed at this stage. It is the standard route for new buildings, conversions and changes of use. The statutory target is eight weeks for smaller schemes and thirteen weeks for major development, though complex cases often take longer by agreement.

Cedar Tree (T1) - Reduce the overall crown by selectively shortening the outermost branches back to suitable secondary growth points, retaining the trees natural form and a balanced canopy. Particular attention will be given to reducing the extended and heavily weighted growth towards the telephone pole. Crown lift the lower canopy by removing or shortening selected lower branches to provide improved clearance over the driveway and beneath the tree. The works are intended to rebalance the crown, improve clearance from the driveway and telephone pole, reduce the overall spread and density of the canopy, and maintain the tree at a suitable size for its location. The tree is currently in good overall health. 1 to 2 metres across the upper canopy. There is quite a lot of weight on the lower right-hand side, so ideally around 2 to 3 metres in that section, where suitable pruning points allow, to reduce the end weight and balance the tree out a little.
