Proposal
T1 - 1 x Oak Tree in adjacent land to 9 Gibbons Lane (on land south of 38 The Broadway GU47 9AB) - reduce to ground level Proposed Works: Remove the suppressed oak (smallest of the three oaks). Reason for Works: The oak is heavily suppressed by the adjacent mature oak trees and neighbouring pine, resulting in poor crown development, a one-sided lateral canopy and restricted future growth potential. Ongoing competition for light, moisture and nutrients has significantly limited the tree’s ability to develop into a well-formed specimen. Due to its suppressed condition, the tree offers comparatively limited visual and arboricultural value when considered against the surrounding mature trees. Removal of the suppressed specimen would reduce competition within the group, allowing the remaining higher-quality trees to continue developing without unnecessary competition. The loss of this subordinate tree would have minimal impact on the overall amenity value of the protected tree group, as the dominant oaks and pine would continue to provide the principal landscape contribution. The tree exhibits poor form typical of long-term suppression, with an elongated stem and an unbalanced crown seeking available light. It is unlikely to develop into a high-quality mature specimen while retained beneath the existing canopy.

T16 - Mature Walnut Tree - Crown lift mature walnut to approximately 3m above ground level by the selective removal of lower branches to improve pedestrian clearance, access and maintenance beneath the crown and provide appropriate clearance from the adjacent garden structure. Retain the natural form and overall character of the tree. Description and reason for works: The mature walnut tree is proposed to be crown lifted to approximately 3 metres above ground level , by the selective removal and shortening of lower branches where appropriate. The lower crown currently extends down into the garden area and across the pedestrian access route, creating restricted clearance beneath the tree and interfering with the practical use and maintenance of the area. The low branches also extend towards and over the adjacent garden structure and restrict access around the building. The proposed crown lifting is intended to provide improved headroom and pedestrian clearance , allowing the area beneath and around the tree to be used and maintained safely and effectively. It will also provide suitable clearance from the adjacent garden building whilst reducing the likelihood of lower branches being damaged through regular pedestrian activity and maintenance operations. The works will be undertaken selectively, removing only those lower branches necessary to achieve an approximately 3-metre crown clearance . The natural form, structural framework and overall appearance of the walnut will be retained, with no unnecessary removal of healthy upper-canopy growth. All pruning will be carried out in accordance with good arboricultural practice, with pruning cuts made at suitable branch unions and positioned to minimise unnecessary wounding. The intention is to retain the mature walnut as an important landscape and amenity tree whilst improving clearance and access beneath its crown . G2 - 1 x Silver Birch - Remove major deadwood
