What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About householder applications

How this application type works

Householder applications cover work to an existing house and its garden: extensions, loft and garage conversions, porches, outbuildings and similar alterations within the boundary of the home. They cannot be used to create a separate dwelling or change what the building is used for. Councils aim to decide them within eight weeks, and immediate neighbours are usually notified and given a chance to comment.

Widening of access, conversion of annexe into garage and store, replacement dormer to rear elevation, changes to fenestration and associated landscaping works." to allow changes to reduce the ground floor extension, reduce the first‑floor footprint. Changes to fenestration, including repositioning of the dormer window, removal of the clerestory element and reinstatement of the bay window. Removal of the first‑floor timber ventilation elements. Reintroduction of solar panels to the eastern roof slope. Omission of the sedum roof finish and replacement with a decorative stone finish. In addition, the previously proposed conversion of the annexe to a garage has been withdrawn. The annexe will therefore be retained in its existing form.
