Planning application

TRE/2022/0085

Ivy Oaks Horsley Lane Coxbench Derby Derbyshire DE21 5BH

Decided Amber Valley Trees

Proposal

Old apple tree in garden, overhanging workshop building. Tree Surgeons advice is that is has considerable rot at the base with evidence of honey fungus. We wish to remove it (possibly retaining trunk to a height of about 4 feet) before it falls onto the workshop and garden.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

1 - Mature Ash Tree: Crown reduce and Deadwood. Crown reduce Ash tree by approximately 25-30% of the canopy volume or 3-4m from the canopy circumference. Reduce the canopy to reduce future risk of wind damage snap outs and maintain good tree form. Deadwood throughout the canopy removing timber greater than 20mm in thickness. 2 - Group Apple Trees: Crown reduce each tree by approximately 30% of the canopy volume or 1.5-2m from the canopy circumference. Reduce canopy to produce an even crown and eliminate branch congestion.
