  • AT/2021/0195 Granted

Flat 1 Hillsborough Hillesdon Road Torquay TQ1 1QF

T1:Oak tree semi mature. Approximate height of 10 meters. This tree has been reduced several times in the past to retain the height so that it doesn't block the light and view from the flats in the building. Requesting permission to reduce the tree by 1-2 meters back to where it has previously been done. T2; Multi stemmed Holm Oak, Mature, approx height of 20 meters. Part owned by 2 properties. This tree is multi stemmed with a large crown that grows over a garage, decking area and paths/steps. There's been a branch that's broken off over the winter that landed on the roof of the garden and caused damage and there is a massive issue with bird feces all over the paths, steps and handrails that leads up to the parking area and garages which is causing a hygiene problem as the residences rely heavily on these walkways and the handrails for support along with it being slippery under foot. The tree itself is has 12 stems some of which are very top heavy, after monitoring them in the wind there is a large degree of movement which will have to be managed. We are applying to reduce the height of the tree by 40-50% back to growth points where possible and remove the left hand limb so it doesn't overhang the pathways. This will retain the tree for the future as well as reducing the risk of anything happening to the tree and almost certainly remove the issue of bird feces.

  • AT/2021/0165 Refused

    13 Greenway Road Brixham TQ5 0LR

T1. Copper Beech tree (Fagus Sylvatica f. Purpurea) Mature, approximate height of 20 meters. Applying for permission to crown lift the lower branches one of which is a medium branches which wouldn't change the shape of the tree and a reduction of the crown by 2-3 meters. The reasons behind this application are: To give more light to surrounding shrubs and small trees. Reduce the extended branches lessoning the weight. Retain the tree at a size that's in keeping with its surroundings with now being a good time for a reduction due to a good amount of reduction points on small branches. Give more light to the neighbouring house which is overshadowed by both the Beech tree and the Lime tree. There is a new house being built near the tree at the bottom of the garden with a Sedum roof which would benefit from having more light but also less leaves falling onto the roof in the autumn.
