Proposal
I wish to apply for work to be carried out on a large Magnolia Grandiflora tree in my garden. I attach a sketch showing its location and photos taken from the road. The tree is now overhanging the road, its lower branches are on top of the neighbour's garage roof and some of the upper branches are very close to a power cable. I have consulted a tree expert who proposed - removal of a lower small branch on the road side - trimming back the lower branches by 2 metres - trim back selected branches higher up to ensure power cable is unimpeded

Prune one ornamental, variegated Holly Illex aquifolium in back garden next to shed. Tree has two trunks, diameters at one metre 17cm and 13cm. Overall height of tree is about 6.5m. We would like to reduce height by about one third and trim sides. The Holly is getting rather large for its position and shading bog garden and pond. We are not certain if we need to submit planning application for this relatively small tree.

My client lives in a blanket TPO area, he has a selection of trees on the front bank of his property that are next to the road and footpath. There is one large Oak and a few medium Ash and Maple trees. The roadside sides of the trees are overhanging the road low enough for lorries to clip them and on the other side they are growing towards the house and into overhead phone wires. Applying to raise the height on the roadside branches on all trees to 4m and cut back anything higher by 1.5m, 1.5m reduction away from the house side on all the trees, then a 1.5m reduction on the height on the Maples and Ash. Any deadwood to be removed at the same time. There is a large Maple tree on the right of the clump at the front being applied that isn't my clients so won't be being touched. That will be shown on the site plan marked at NT for neighbour tree, clump of maple/ash labelled T1, Oak labelled T2 and Japanese Cedar labelled T3 In the back garden, there is a Japanese Cedar tree growing at 45 degree angle and is very top heavy, so applying to reduce the height on that by 2.5m to reduce the chance of future failure. Willow-leaved pear (Pyrus salicifolia) ? Tree T1 on the attached sketch plan. Proposed works: Fell the tree and remove from site. Reason for works: The tree is a willow-leaved pear of approximately 2.5 metres in height located within the rear garden. It is in poor condition, with areas of rot/decay present, and is leaning significantly at approximately 50 degrees, giving rise to concern over its structural stability and likelihood of failure. The tree is not visible from any public vantage point and can only be seen from within the private rear garden, so its contribution to the character or appearance of the conservation area is very limited. Given its poor condition, pronounced lean and limited public amenity value, consent is sought to fell the tree in the interests of safety and good arboricultural management.

T1-T5 Beech - All 5 trees have extensive squirrel damage in upper limbs and branches. These are now posing a safety hazard to the owners & neighbours. Suggestion is to shorten damaged limbs and branches as appropriate to their lengths and amount of damage to reduce the risk of failure. Estimated reduction is maximum 3m but less if safe to do so & leaving decent growth points. 1 limb recently broke & fell into owners garden & the climbing inspection was undertaken & the damage was highlighted.
