Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
1) Tree T1 - Reduce crown spread to the north by 1m to suitable secondary growth points to give an approximate clearance of 2m from the house and remove major dead wood (diameter greater than 25mm). (Reference section 4.2 of attached report.) 2) Mature Willow located on a raised mound on the rear lawn approximately 16m to the south of the house, height is 13m with a crown radius of 8m. There is a substantial amount of deadwood in the crown, the large lateral limb at 4m to the north is overextended with a lot of end weight. Furthermore, the large lateral at 4m to the south is also overextended with substantial end weight. To try and prevent the potential failure of these two main laterals, requesting reducing the lateral to the north by 1.5m to suitable secondary growth points and reducing the lateral to the south by 1.5m to suitable secondary growth points and remove all major deadwood (diameter greater than 25mm). (Reference section 4.17 of attached report.)

T2 & T4: Larch- Fell to ground level. The pair of trees are in very close proximity to the neighbouring property, and overhang in parts by a substantial amount. The trees are both also reaching over-maturity, and have lost a number of limbs in the past as a result of being very over- extended. The pair of trees are now suppressing 2 Yew trees growing below them, and their removal will prevent any further limb failures, and allow the Yew trees to fill the space with a better structural form. T3: Yew- Crown lift to a height of 3-4m from ground level, removing only minor secondary laterals and no major limbs. (Amended)

Willow 19 (TPO ref: 2245T2): Reduction in height from 17m to no less than 12m. Reduction in radial spread from 7m to no less than 4m all round. Reason: to create pollard framework for long-term management. Larch 20 (TPO ref: 2245T3): Reduction in height from 12 to no less than 10m. Reduction in radial spread from: North 4m to 3.5m; East 6m to 4m, South 6m to 4m, West 6m to 4m. Reason: long term containment as close to buildings. False Acacia (no number) (TPO ref: 2245G1): Located in far south corner of garden (see figures 3,4 & 7 appended). Work: remove and replace tree. Reason: decay and dysfunction of 1/4 of stem radius at base for at least 1.5m up stem. Tree in reasonable physiological health, but the decay is on back of lean and there has been death of the tension buttress roots. It is leaning over other better quality trees, which will be crushed when tree fails. Replace with field maple (Acer campestre) 10-12 cm girth, in similar location.
