Planning application

The Thatched House Church Lane Sparsholt Winchester Hampshire SO21 2NJ

Granted Winchester 24/01564/TPC Tree In A Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

T1 - the felling of a Walnut tree in poor condition, showing sign of disease. It cannot be seen from the public highway. Despite previous work to reduce the canopy it remains too large for the site and casts excessive shade reducing the amenity value of the surrounding ornamental and vegetable garden. T2 - the felling of an old non-productive apple tree. The trees are marked on the attached image of the property.

The Thatched House Church Lane Sparsholt Winchester Hampshire SO21 2NJ

T1 Felling of a Silver Birch (approx 100mm diameter at 1.5M ) which was planted by us a few years ago. We now realise that it was planted too near to a mature Maple (T2). There is another Silver Birch planted further away that will be retained. T2 The removal of a lower limb of the Maple and raise the crown to 5m to remove branches overhanging/over-shadowing a yew hedge and decorative flower beds.

The Thatched House Church Lane Sparsholt Winchester Hampshire SO21 2NJ

T1 - one of three yew trees to the front of our property. This bifurcated tree causes excessive shading of rooms in the house, dramatically reduces the amenity value of our front garden and increases the time the thatched roof is damp reducing its effective life. T2 - an excessively large Western Red Cedar. This tree is showing stress towards the top and because of the prevailing wind we are concerned that should it be brought down in high winds it would destroy the oil storage tank with significant environmental consequences for ourselves and the neighbouring property.
