Proposal
Tree 1 on sketch (Ash) TPO1201T1 to re-pollard to the north east side of this tree, cutting back branches which overhand onto our drive and reducing its height in line with other trees in the row. The tree surgeon said the tree (T1) looked like it had been pollarded previously and he recommended re-pollarding, which I think is about 6-7 metres. Tree 2 on sketch (Ash) TPO 1201T2 to reduce by 5 metres to bring back in line with other trees in the row and cut back those which overhand onto our driveway. The reason for this work is to reduce the damage being caused by branches and tree debris falling onto our cars parked under the trees on our driveway and maintain the trees which have not been maintained by the Council since we moved here 7 years ago. The trees sit in a small strip of land which separates an industrial area and residential area (Claylands and Edington Close.) The boundary has a fence, then our driveway. The trees overhang onto our property.

Open the documentsWhat a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
