The Leylandii at the front boundary of our property has been at some point topped so all current branches and tree growth are offshoot branches. This has resulted in many dead lower branches and growth towards the road where the public walk. I am seeking permission to trim back the branches hanging over the pavement to prevent personal injury to pedestrians on the highway. This would involve crown thinning the dead branches up to 3 metres and trimming back up to 1.5 metres towards the boundary wall.

Sycamores (Group 1) - Pollard at previous pollard points to control growth over neighbours property. Regrowth is starting to become large and regrowth points may become weak. Scotts Pine (T1) - Fell due to lean over property on top of bank, also may be cause of damage to neighbouring wall as is in close proximity.

4 Leylandii tress all in need of dead branch removal. The fence for reference is 1.2 metres high. The application is to remove dead branches no higher than 1.8m as they are healthy above this. I also plan to remove any ivy that may cause damage to the trees up to 1.8m and clear the area beneath them as the previous owners left it in a bit of a state of disrepair.

T1 - Conifer - Fell. Current amenity value is poor due to poor form. Tree is close to the property and provides more of an issue for the homeowners than it provides value to local area. (Agreed it is a very poor specimen). T2 - Copper Beech - Reduce current height from 8 meters by 1.5 meters to leave a height of 6.5 meters. Reduce sides by up to a meter to allow to shape around the new height. This tree has already been pruned and its height and spread will need to be curtailed given the growing space available. T3 - Leylandii - Fell - This tree is suppressed and is being pushed to grow taller due to close competition without significant secondary growth. It is now growing into the London Plane tree of which has a more significant value to the local area. T4 - London Plane - Crown raise on the South Side by up to 8 meters, removing the two lowest limbs that grow toward the property in order to prevent damage to the roof of the property. These branches cannot be seen by the public and therefore offer no amenity value. Crown raise over footpath to a height of 2.5 metres for public safety. T5,6, & 7 Fell Cypress Trees that compete directly with the London Plane.

T1 - Yew - Located on boundary edge, crown now encroaching on roadside and garden. Light crown raise to 3 meters from ground level. Reduce height by 1 meter leaving a crown height of 8 meters. Reduce lateral limbs facing North South East and West by 1.2 meters leaving branch lengths of 3.5 meters.

Magnolia Tree - Fell due to position, land is slipping from behind the tree and works are needed to build a retaining wall of sorts to hold back the land behind the tree. The tree cannot be seen from the main road and also does not in any way impact any neighbours. The photo with the red line indicates where the proposed 'wall' under permitted development (confirmed by planning team) would be placed to hold back the land behind the Magnolia tree. Further work to determine levelling land to be confirmed. Plans are subject to the decision of the proposed removal of the magnolia tree. Future plans will be to repopulate the land behind with trees / bushes in keeping with the area.
