Proposal

Neighbour raised concern that (ash) tree is diseased (large hole in the trunk) and may fall onto his property (shed) during high winds. Tree has been viewed by a tree surgeon who verbally confirmed that although there is not an imminent risk of the tree falling, the hole will progressively get worse and eventually the tree will require felling, but by that stage it will be too dangerous to climb and carry out the works, so better to act now to remove the tree. Would not propose to replace the tree; it is in a line of large mature trees so a new one would likely not thrive due to lack of light.
