Plans to fell one 8-10m Western Red Cedar in close proximity to our house. The tree is not subject to a TPO but our property sits within the local conservation area. This tree will be felled to the ground with the stump remaining. This tree is shown as "T1" in the sketch provided and highlighted in yellow. Our house is directly to it's north and is outlined in blue. Further to our previous application for minor works to sycamore trees to provide clearance from another neighbour's building (Ref. No: 25/00368/TPC, approved April 2025) we request approval to raise clearance to 5.5m over the highway. The position of this tree is shown in the second attachment as the western border or "G1" where it meets Christchurch Road.

Excavation at 12.5m or more from T1B beech (1288T1 as detailed on winch.maps.arcgis.com) up to 1m depth to determine extent of tree root growth to the east. Excavation works to progress at point furthest from the tree and work towards the tree with 12.6m from the centre of the tree being the closest point for excavation. All excavations should avoid damage to the protective bark covering larger (over 25mm diameter) roots. Excavation to be carried out by hand tools (hand mattock / trowel / fork / spade) or utilising a compressed air device to loosen the soil for removal. Roots, whilst exposed, should be wrapped in dry, clean hessian sacking to prevent drying and to protect from temperature changes. Roots smaller than 25mm diameter may be pruned back, preferably to a side branch, using a proprietary clean cutting tool such as bypass secateurs or handsaw. Roots larger than 25mm diameter should only be severed following consultation with the appointed Arboricultural Consultant, as the roots may be important to the tree's health and stability. Prior to backfilling, any hessian wrapping should be removed and retained roots should be surrounded by the excavated soil or sharp sand (builder's sand should not be used because of its high salt content which is toxic to tree roots), or other loose granular fill, before soil or other material is replaced. All excavation works must be subject to Arboricultural Consultant supervision.
