I would like fell the silver birch as identified on my sketch primarily to the detrimental health effects. Secondary to this, behind the silver birch there is an old Yew Tree which I would protect and I believe the Yew would improve considerably by vastly greater sunlight and rainfall if the silver birch is removed. Thirdly, the silver birch is under 10m from the house and has grown considerably over the years we have owned the house and I am nervous of its proximity to the house given it?s size. Please note. I have considered a replacement tree however excluding the Silverbirch there are already 7 medium to large trees and 4 ornamental trees ( and numerous fir trees ) in the back garden alone ( and more trees to the front ) so there does not appear to be a sensible and reasonable area to plant.
