I wish to apply for work to be carried out on a large Magnolia Grandiflora tree in my garden. I attach a sketch showing its location and photos taken from the road. The tree is now overhanging the road, its lower branches are on top of the neighbour's garage roof and some of the upper branches are very close to a power cable. I have consulted a tree expert who proposed - removal of a lower small branch on the road side - trimming back the lower branches by 2 metres - trim back selected branches higher up to ensure power cable is unimpeded

Arboricultural Justification: To undertake a sympathetic crown reduction in accordance with BS3998:2010 to maintain the tree at a sustainable size relative to its growing environment and reducxe end-weight thoughout the crown. The works will lessen mechanical loading on extnded limbs, improve the tree's long-term structural integrity, and reduce the liklihood of branch failure during adverse weather conditions. T7 - Sycamore to take back to source the first 4no branches at 35mm stem diameter Arboricultural Justification: To remove four small lower branches by pruning bak to source. The works are minor in nature and intended to improve canopy structure and provide appropriate clearance beneath the crown. The proposed pruning involves the removal of small diameter branches only and will not adversely affect the health or stability of the tree. (Amended)

T1-T5 Beech - All 5 trees have extensive squirrel damage in upper limbs and branches. These are now posing a safety hazard to the owners & neighbours. Suggestion is to shorten damaged limbs and branches as appropriate to their lengths and amount of damage to reduce the risk of failure. Estimated reduction is maximum 3m but less if safe to do so & leaving decent growth points. 1 limb recently broke & fell into owners garden & the climbing inspection was undertaken & the damage was highlighted.
