Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
1. The Yew tree needs to be reduced by at least 1/3. 2. The plum tree needs thinning as there are too many new branches growing 3. The variegated sycamore and the one next to it (4) just need pruning to prevent them getting too much taller 5 & 6. The 2 beech trees on the boundary both need to be reduced by at least 1/3 and my neighbours have requested that the overhanging branches to their property are chopped back. We also need to remove the ivy that is surrounding the tree. 7. The other tree (not sure what it is) also needs to be crowned by at least 1/3. 8. The yew tree on the boundary with the church needs to be pruned probably by 1/2.

The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.

The cherry trees inside our wall but abutting the street are far too overgrown and need some serious cutting back photo ID: HOPEHOUSE_1.jpg, HOPEHOUSE_2.jpg and HOPEHOUSE_3.jpg Also there is a tree quite close to the house at the rear, which is also rather overgrown and needs attention, photo ID: HOPEHOUSE_4.jpg These are basically maintenance issues and nothing very dramatic. We are not planning to reduce the hight of the three cherry trees dramatically, this is a maintenance project on the 'overgrown' top and branches, probably not more than 3 or 4 feet off the top. The other tree at the rear of the house, does not need anything off the top, only some branches which are getting near to the main house roof, again a maintenance job.
