4 lime trees outside No.s 2-5 Earlsdown, Northbrook Avenue, Winchester SO23 0JW. The trees run along the outside of the boundary wall of the north side of the building along the grass verge, at the south west end of Northbrook Avenue. These trees do not have TPOs. I have identified these trees on the sketch plan as blue stars, numbered 2, 3, 4, 5. I am the owner of No.1 Earlsdown, and I have the consent from the owners of no.s 2-5 Earlsdown to submit this application on their behalves. This application is for the trees to be re-pollarded. They have clearly been pollarded in the past but have now outgrown their form and location with new branch growth unsuited to their neighbouring trees and location very close to a building. Pollarding works have just completed to all the other trees on this and surrounding roads, but these trees were accidentally excluded from those works. They are now therefore an anomaly on the road, even though they are of like type and nature to the neighbouring trees. Pollarding will restore the trees to their previous state and bring them into keeping with the other trees outside properties along this road.

Willow-leaved pear (Pyrus salicifolia) ? Tree T1 on the attached sketch plan. Proposed works: Fell the tree and remove from site. Reason for works: The tree is a willow-leaved pear of approximately 2.5 metres in height located within the rear garden. It is in poor condition, with areas of rot/decay present, and is leaning significantly at approximately 50 degrees, giving rise to concern over its structural stability and likelihood of failure. The tree is not visible from any public vantage point and can only be seen from within the private rear garden, so its contribution to the character or appearance of the conservation area is very limited. Given its poor condition, pronounced lean and limited public amenity value, consent is sought to fell the tree in the interests of safety and good arboricultural management.

Fell 1 Conifer (labelled 1 in the diagram), very thin and unhealthy looking - a few sparse branches towards the top. Maybe 6m tall, not visible from road. Fell 1 Continus (labelled 2 in the diagram). Overgrown shrub. Leaning at 45 degrees, has been poorly pruned, tangled in adjacent Holly tree. Not visible from road. Half the height of the Holly. Fell 1 Holly (labelled 3 in the diagram) - small (about 4/5 Metres), not visible from road. Leaning at 45 degrees and intertwined with an overgrown Continus shrub. All trees are at the rear of the property and can only be seen from the applicant's garden.
