Decided Winchester 20/00989/TPC Tree In A Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1 Hornbeam - Fell - The tree is situated very close to the rear of the building, it is evident the landlord has had the tree reduced before to combat the problem. The tree has reacted to the pruning by putting thicker growth on as expected. This in tern is causing even more shading in a relatively small garden for the tree's size. One side of the rootball has been landscaped in the past and a sleeper wall has been erected. I believe this could be effecting the trees health as there is substantial deadwood present and areas of decline, although this could be down to the age of the tree. The landlord is mainly concerned due to the proximity to the building and the fact the tenants are a young family who have complained to him about debris falling from the tree when the children are in the garden. The tree is also relatively close to the railway line. The landlord is more than happy to replant with the same species or a similar/more suitable one.
