Planning application
Street Record Lower High Street Burford Oxfordshire
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
Road safety improvements to Burford Bridge including formation of a new footway on the bridge adjacent to eastern parapet. (note: this footway replaces the current informal pedestrian area). The new footway will be flush with the road, and will comprise an ULTICOLOUR SMA finish: it will be defined by a 100mm edgeline in white methyl methacrylate. At either end a cast iron bell bollard is to be installed within the footway to act as a deterrent to vehicles overrunning the footway. In addition to the footway, a 100mm edgeline in white methyl methacrylate will be applied to the carriageway adjacent the western parapet of the bridge to provide improved guidance to vehicles crossing the bridge. The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About heritage and listed buildings applications
How this application type works
Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.
