Planning application
2026/1335/TCA
Meadow Court The Lane Grafton Regis NN12 7HW
Proposal
(1) the felling of a dead tree, believed to be a Nordic Spruce, which is considered unsafe. Due to its condition, including visible movement in the wind, we believe this presents an urgent safety concern, (2) the felling of a dead tree stump, approximately 7 feet in height and covered in ivy. This is at risk of falling onto neighbouring property or occupants, (3) Pollarding a cherry tree to encourage growth and maintain safe size, (4) Felling a dead cherry tree which is covered in ivy. And obscuring the growth of the garden beneath, (5) Cutting down a section of trees/ branches along the rear fence that faces the farmer’s field which are impinging on his fence, (6) Cutting a number of self-seeded sumac saplings. Only young saplings to be felled.

What a grant of permission means
The process from here
Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.
Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.
About trees applications
How this application type works
Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
