An application to prune this tree ( 2025/3127) has already been approved but it only specified a crown reduction. I have been informed that another application is needed to prune back to previous pruning points. It would be much appreciated if this could be approved earlier than 6 weeks if this application is unnecessary. Permission of the tree owner (Neil Graham) has been obtained.

14 Cromer Villas Road London Wandsworth SW18 1PN

Please note that the tree is on the land adjacent to 14 Cromer Villas Rd, London SW18 1PN. We are unable to select this location from the drop down list for this postcode. T1 - Veteran Horse Chestnut - Fell the tree on safety grounds is considered justified and appropriate in order to mitigate the risk to persons and property, leaving a stump of 1 metre. As an Arboricultural Approved contractor (#AC2626), all works will be undertaken in accordance with BS39982010 - Tree Work - Recommendations. Reasons for works: Arboriculturalist, Nick Hayden of Hayden???s Arboricultural Consultants www.treesurveys.co.uk, noted that the pronounced lean now evident in the standing horse chestnut was not recorded during the previous inspection undertaken in 2025. It is therefore reasonable to conclude that the recent failure of the adjacent companion tree may have contributed to a change in loading conditions, resulting in movement of the subject tree. In addition, the standing tree exhibits an unbalanced crown structure which, when considered alongside its increased exposure following the loss of the neighbouring tree, is likely to result in elevated wind loading. During inspection of the fallen tree, it was also observed that sections of the stem exhibited significant internal decay, with the pith and surrounding hardwood able to be manually separated. This indicates advanced structural degradation from within. It is therefore highly probable that the failed companion tree was subject to a similar level of internal decay. Furthermore, the standing tree has previously been noted to contain sizeable cavities within the main crown structure, further compounding concerns regarding its integrity. Taken together, the observed lean, altered loading conditions, increased wind exposure, internal decay and pre-existing crown cavities materially compromise the structural stability of the tree and significantly increase the likelihood of failure. On the basis of these combined factors, the recommendation to fell the tree on safety grounds is considered justified and appropriate in order to mitigate the risk to persons and property.

    12 Briar Walk SW15 6UD

A two-trunk Common Holly tree stands at the southern corner of our property, 12 Briar Walk, neighbouring 14 Briar Walk (see tree T1 in attached sketch plan). The tree has an extensive and vigorous root system above ground (see photo), while the root system below ground appears to be causing damage to the dividing garden wall between 12 Briar Walk and 14 Briar Walk (see photos showing cracks). Our neighbours at 14 Briar Walk are concerned about the potential for further damage to the dividing wall and have asked us to remove the tree. We plan to employ professional tree surgeons to cut down the tree and minimise or prevent future growth of the root system. We have no plans to repalace the tree.

The psychology is good with a good amount of foliage throughout the tree. The tree shows historical phototropic growth with leaning towards the property on the west and south with all branch growth in this direction. This would indicate growing with completion with large trees to the north. Evidence of street trees which has been removed and a newly planted Lime in its place and an existing street tree, Oak Quercus which has been lopped and topped at 8 meters. There are wounds on the main stem; Wound 1 on the south side at 0.5 meter Wound 2 on the west side at 1 meter Wound 3 on the South west side. Elongated with server resin bleeding. With reactionary growth on either side. Wound 4 ??? A large open wound (Due to historical poor branch removal) located at 5 meters. The wound has a width of 400mm and a height of 580mm. T1 Poplar: Carry out a controlled and proportionate reduction of regrowth arising from established historic pollard points. Works to comprise: Reduction of all secondary regrowth to leave approximately 2 to 3 metres of extension growth from the existing pollard heads Retention of the full historic pollard framework and all primary structural limbs Selective thinning of congested regrowth where necessary to maintain an even and stable crown structure Removal of dead, dying, damaged or crossing branches where present All pruning cuts to be undertaken to suitable growth points in strict accordance with BS3998:2010 Tree Work Recommendations, avoiding the creation of large diameter wounds and preserving the integrity of the existing pollard heads. No cutting back to, or beyond, the established pollard points is proposed. Arboricultural Justification The subject tree exhibits clear evidence of historic pollarding, with established pollard heads and cyclical regrowth typical of managed Poplar species. The proposed works represent: Routine cyclical management of a previously pollarded tree A measured and sustainable reduction consistent with accepted arboricultural practice A necessary intervention to prevent excessive extension growth, reduce end weight, and maintain structural integrity The specification has been carefully limited to ensure: No over pruning or structural harm Preservation of long term tree health and vitality Retention of amenity value within the Conservation Area Avoidance of large pruning wounds which could accelerate decay Constraints and Limitations: Works will not involve cutting to boundary lines where this would require excessive or indiscriminate pruning Works will not exceed 30 percent of recent regrowth Works will not alter the fundamental structure, height or character of the tree Any more severe reduction, including cutting back to or beyond pollard points or to boundary limits, would: Be contrary to BS3998 best practice Introduce a high risk
