Works: Trees
Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.
Proposal
Felling of Walnut tree in back garden. The tree grows very quickly and requires pruning every other year which is very costly. The tree is too close to the house. The tree blocks sunlight from the house. Pruning of beech tree in front garden. Reduce the crown by 2.5m and reduce spread by 2m. General maintenance of a specimen tree.

The single dead Cherry tree is shown as "C" in a red circle on the Sketchmap provided. For reasons of safety before autumn storms, the crown now needs to be reduced by removal of the lateral branches to a residual limb length of c. 1 metre above main unions, creating a branched monolith (of about 4-5m height) . This is a wildlife-friendly alternative to complete removal. The trunk already has ivy growth, and the tree will continue to provide potential harbourage for wood-boring insects, other invertebrates, birds and smal mammals. Arborists have indicated that the standing dead tree should remain stable for several years as a monolith. Stability will be checked annually. The lopped branches will be cut into manageable pieces to make a habitat pile in a designated area of the churchyard. N.B. There is no Tree Preservation Order in force for this tree or any other tree in the chuchyard.
