Planning application

P26/V3020/TCA

Field House Fernham Road Uffington Faringdon SN7 7RD

Decided Vale of White Horse Works to trees in CA

Proposal

T1. Mature native cherry tree (Prunus avium) growing in the boundary hedge between the applicants garden and the adjacent churchyard of St. Marys Church, Uffington. Height 5 metres, crown spread 3 metres. This tree has grown to a size where it is out of proportion with its surroundings, being larger than the other trees in the hedgerow, and is growing out into the churchyard, impeding access to the footpath in the churchyard. Proposed work is to reduce the overall crown size of the tree by around 30%, removing branch ends of around 1 metre in length, leaving pruning cuts of 30 mm maximum. Also lift lower canopy to a height of 2.5 metres to clear pedestrian access.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
