Planning application

68 Steventon Road Drayton Abingdon OX14 4LD

Granted Vale of White Horse P26/V1354/TPO Works to TPO

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

Large Oak tree at front of property next to the main road ( Steventon Road, Drayton). There are a number of dead branches at low level that require trimming back. This will both ensure the overall health of the tree and mitigate against any falling branches onto the road and footpath in future. I propose to use a professional contractor for the works and the tree will not have an appreciable change in appearance following the work. It will only be a small number of branches where leaves have not grown back that require trimming. No major branches need trimming. I estimate the diameter of largest branches that require trimming to be no more than 100mm.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
