Planning application

27 Horsecroft Stanford In The Vale Faringdon SN7 8LL

Granted Vale of White Horse P26/V1233/TCA(5D) Dead or Dangerous Tree Notification in a Conservation Area

Works: Trees

Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.

Proposal

G1 Lombardy Poplar x2 - Fell. T2 Western Red Cedar - Fell. G1 - Larger diameter tree to south (nearer property) has a significant defect at the base with advanced decay in the base of the west of the stem, this decay is beginning to compromise the buttresses. The tree has previously been “topped”. Regrowth from these pruning points has snapped out over winter. Removal of the larger diameter poplar will expose the remaining more slender tree. Both these trees would reach the owner’s property, neighbours property or block the access track to the neighbours property (as well as damage their trees adjacent to the track) if they failed. T2 - Tree has an asymmetric crown caused by previous storm damage from adjacent poplars. Removal would benefit the adjacent yew.

What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About trees applications

How this application type works

Tree applications cover work to protected trees: those under a tree preservation order need consent for pruning or felling, and trees in a conservation area need six weeks written notice before work starts. The council assesses the amenity value of the tree and can refuse consent, approve it with conditions, or in conservation areas make a preservation order in response.
