What a grant of permission means

The process from here

Permission has been granted, usually subject to conditions listed on the decision notice, some of which must be discharged before work starts. The decision notice on the council portal sets out exactly what was approved.

Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses. Neighbours cannot appeal a grant; challenging one means judicial review of how the decision was made, within tight time limits.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.

T1 - Hawthorn tree T1 - Hawthorn tree - fell because it has been heavily overgrown with ivy (several ivy stems in excess of 100mm dia). I have attempted to clear the ivy from the tree, but the tree surgeon (Lloyd's Tree Services) has now advised it is best to be felled, because if they were to clear the remaining ivy, there would be little left of the live hawthorn tree, i.e. only one or two spindly viable branches lower down the trunk, as the tree has been overrun for such a long period.
