Withdrawn Vale of White Horse P21/V0041/LB Listed Building Consent

Works: Windows or glazing

Withdrawn before a decision, so it carries no planning weight. A revised scheme can be submitted at any time.

Proposal

3 St Michaels is a Grade II listed building set within the former Cloisters of the St Michaels nunnery. The house has single glazed windows and doors throughout. However on the ground floor the windows and doors are set within the wooden panelling that the property developers used to fill the space of the Cloisters to make the house habitable. The house is very cold in winter due to the draft that comes through the single glazing and it is not energy efficient. As the wooden panels and windows/doors within the wooden panels were not part of the original structure of the Grade II listed building, I am proposing putting in 2 double glazed windows and 2 double glazed doors. All other windows set within the original brickwork will remain unchanged. The new double glazed windows and doors will be timber effect and heritage in style to ensure they are in keeping with St Michaels' aesthetic.

T1 - Mature flowering Cherry Tree Mature flowering Cherry tree, marked T1 on attached plan. The proposed work is to lift the lower crown of the tree to a height of 3 metres, in order to clear access along the adjoining footpaths and to reduce weight on the lower limbs of the tree. This tree is now over-mature, and has long lower branches that are at risk of breaking. It is also proposed that we will fit a cable brace from the centre of the crown to the low branch that extends towards No.7 St Michaels, to reduce the likelihood of future breakage. Ths branch is wounded and partially decayed near its base, but its complete removal would leave the tree looking unbalanced. Two other branches on the tree have already been cable braced in a similar manner. Remarks:
