Works: Trees
Permission granted. Work must normally begin within three years of the decision or the permission lapses.
Proposal
The Horse Chestnut T1 was among several trees identified as causing subsidence damage due to shrinkage of the clay under the foundations of Silver Howe in 1998 and 2005, because of removal of water by the trees. Offending trees were either removed or reduced. The Insurers then made repairs to the property. They instructed that the Horse Chestnut T1 had a crown reduction of 15-20% and that it should be restricted to those dimensions. Since 2006 the tree has put on growth. Some of the branches are dropping. Some of the branches hang very low when in full leaf causing a hazard when mowing the grass below. Thames Tree Services have been consulted and recommend reducing the crown by 15-20% to previous pruning points and to raise the lower growth by about 2 metres. (This is in addition to other tree work recommended to safeguard the property which are not subject to any TPO).
