Planning application

Little Fieldside, London Road, Blewbury, Didcot, OX11 9NY

Decided Vale of White Horse P15/V3092/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

1 x Sycamore 1 x Beech Request permission to fell two old and damaged trees in the back garden of Little Fieldside. The trees have been damaged by scaffolding works on the new build to the left of the property and also due to excavation of land to level the building site the trees are at risk of wind damage and falling during a strong southerly gale. One of the trees is actually a new trunk formation from a previous and old rotten sycamore tree. The other a Beech tree which is growing around and through the garden wall making the wall unstable. Neither of the trees have any attractive appeal as they are damaged and are not visible from the roadside. The base of the trees commences above the roof level of a flat roof on my property and if the trees were to come down they would be likely to cause structural damage. Sycamore: the new trunk is a regeneration of an old rotten tree stump. The growth is through and around a garden wall making the wall potentially unstable. The ground below the tree has been cut away to level the plot for a neighbouring house build leaving the tree expoed to wind damage. For safety reasons I am requesting felling of the tree to ground level. Removal of the tree stump and roots will not be possible as there is no access for the machinery required. The second tree appears to be a common beech tree but last year had very few leaves, the tree is not in good condition and is overgrown by ivy. The tree roots are lying under the garden wall mentioned earlier. The ground below the tree has been cut away leaving the tree exposed and potentially more likely to suffer wind damage and collapse. The base of the tree is within 6 feet of the roof of the bathroom. The root of the tree level is above the height of the building. I have solar panels on my south facing roof and previously had excellent solar energy until the new build next door has blocked the early morning to 11am sunshine. The dense growth of ivy within the trees is further reducing solar energy generation. Whatever environmental benefits can be achieved from these trees it is far out weighed by the solar generation of energy if they could be felled. Remarks:
