Planning application

P15/V1096/LB

45 Wallingford Street Wantage OX12 8AU

Status unknown Vale of White Horse Other (Listed Bldg. Consent)

Proposal

To carry out urgent repairs to the fabric of the building occasioned by the ingress of storm water and extensive infestation of Death-watch and other wood boring insects. The proposed works involve the removal of part of the timber frame, wattle and daub infill, posts, rails and sole plate, forming the party wall with No 43 Wallingford street and the replacement of these timbers with similar oak members using traditional carpentry methods. Permission is sought to replace the wattle and daub infill with lightweight block work to enhance the stability of the building following the timber repairs. All infill panels disturbed internally and externally will be made good using traditional lime mortars and plasters of appropriate strength and feebility. Alterations to the shared ground floor valley gutter are proposed to obviate further rainwater ingress improve water run off and provide access to the main frame post to be replaced as described above. The proposed valley will be a stepped lead lined construction approx. 2.4 metres in length and not exceeding 600mm width at its widest point.

About heritage and listed buildings applications

How this application type works

Heritage applications concern listed buildings and conservation areas. Listed building consent is needed for works, inside or out, that affect the special interest of a listed building, and carrying out such works without consent is a criminal offence. The council weighs harm to the heritage asset against any public benefit of the proposal.
