  Single English Yew tree with no apparent individual TPO marker but belonging to a group of 9 yew trees having the following TPO identifier: location: Caldicott Road Area, Abingdon, TPO 10V02 Item G1 "Yew trees NGR SU 492966 situated along the green open space verge to the rear of 35-57 St Armand Drive". Tree is marked by red arrow on accompanying sketch plan. This strip of land on which the trees stand according to Land Registry Title Number ON321755 is registered to Burlington Asset Management Ltd (Co. Regn. No 08862721) of 1 New Cottages, Faccombe, Andover, Hants SP11 0DU who have been informed in writing of this application (copy attached, dated 5 August 2017). No reply has been received from the land owner at the time of this application and contact details aside from postal address are not available to the applicant. No work has been carried out on this tree for at least 20 years (and probably not since before 1974). It now has a width and height of about 7 to 8m. It is now excessively shading our garden and the lower branches are overhanging our fence as well as dangerously obstructing the adjacent public footpath at head height (see accompanying photos). It is proposed that those lower branches that overhang the garden. Cut back to be to a growth point and cut wounds to be sealed to prevent disease. Work to be undertaken by suitably qualified personnel. A similar planning application for th nearby Yew tree behind 57 St Armand Drive has recently been submitted. It is hoped if possible that the work can be carrie dout on both trees at the same time.

  Yew - I would like to prune and shape a Yew tree which is situated right at the boundary of my back fence. It is neglected and is out of control and losing any desirable shape. It has received no arboreal or rejuvenation maintenance for 30 years (since I have lived in the house) and has therefore grown too high and is causing excessive shading in an already very small garden. Several branches overhang the fence - which shed poisonous berries on my patio which are of concern to me for visiting young children and animals. It is of concern that Yew trees can grow over 20 metres high and have widespread and dense root system and will suffer in drier summers. There are many yews in this small green area which appear to have a TPO, yet they add no amenity or enjoyment value at present because they have never undergone any tree management and are all overgrown - which seems rather sad.
