Planning application

33 Bath Street, Abingdon, Oxon

Decided Vale of White Horse P14/V3044/TCA Works to trees in CA

Works: Trees

Decided. The decision notice on the council portal carries the outcome in full, including any conditions.

Proposal

T1 - Prunus pissardi In your letter of 4 August to Elise Feddema you gave permission for her to prune a tree in the garden of 33 Bath Street, Abingdon, which we own. However, her application was for its removal, and pruning it will not alleviate the problems which the tree causes. I would be grateful if you could reconsider her application on the condition that we undertake to replace the tree by a specimen more suitable to its location. In addition to damage caused by its branches in high wind, and its obstruction of light, the tree's roots have got into the Victorian drainage system causing periodic obstruction. A tree of the size it has become should not have been planted so close to the building. We would be very happy to plant one, or perhaps two, smaller trees further from the drains and building if you could reconsider Elise's application and give her permission to remove the exissting Prunus pissardi.
