T1 - Yew (tree is located at the end of the driveway - in front of you as you drive in to the property). T1 - Yew, fell to ground level and grind out stump. Replace with a heavy standard tree with more seasonal interest such as a Prunus, Sorbus, Malus, Betula sp or Magnolia for example. The yew tree is early mature. It has a thinning crown and significant deadwood throughout. A gas main runs immediately adjacent to it whoch would likely have disturbed roots on its north and east side and it has endured historic compaction and hard landscaping close to it on all sides. It is not an attractive tree and it has limited public amenity value within the Conservation Area as it can only be seen via glimpses between the buildings from Newbury Road. Its interest in terms of visual amenity and wildlife value is therefore low. The owners would like to remove this tree and plant a replacement which would have interest throughout the seasons, enhance the amenity value of this part of the village and contribute to the wildlife value of the garden. A tree with blossom would for example be a vital source of nectar for flying insects which we need to encourage in accordance with the Biodiversity Action Plan for the UK. Remarks:
