T1 - London Plane, The Paddock T2 - Horse Chestnut, The Paddock T3 - 3 x Small Horse Chestnut 1. London Plane - The Paddock, Weeping wounds with decay were found on the large lateral branch at 12m above ground level growing above the road. Recommendations: Reduce this limb back by 4m and remove deadwood from the crown. 2. Horse Chestnut - The Paddock, Branches are starting to be shed by this tree. Large cavity in the main stem at 1.5m and 3m found. Recommendations: Reduce the crown by 4m and remove deadwood. 3. 3 x small Horse Chestnut (pollarded). Front garden (roadside) in a very poor conditon. Recommendations: Fell and grind out the stumps. Re-plant with Aesculus carnea briotii. Remarks:

    The single dead Cherry tree is shown as "C" in a red circle on the Sketchmap provided. For reasons of safety before autumn storms, the crown now needs to be reduced by removal of the lateral branches to a residual limb length of c. 1 metre above main unions, creating a branched monolith (of about 4-5m height) . This is a wildlife-friendly alternative to complete removal. The trunk already has ivy growth, and the tree will continue to provide potential harbourage for wood-boring insects, other invertebrates, birds and smal mammals. Arborists have indicated that the standing dead tree should remain stable for several years as a monolith. Stability will be checked annually. The lopped branches will be cut into manageable pieces to make a habitat pile in a designated area of the churchyard. N.B. There is no Tree Preservation Order in force for this tree or any other tree in the chuchyard.
